Poem twenty-two http://napowrimo.com
A son is carved from fathers love and
Moulded by his hate and indifference,
A mother watches patiently and aches.
Her arms grow weak from holding them up
and her back sore from their burden.
She weeps tears for a future that
though unwritten is set in stone.
writing
Queueing
What is just in grasp seems so far away,
what can’t be seen seems so near yet
I cannot reach it.
The never-ending torment of frustration is eased
by each shuffling step,
Each worn out sign is rewarded by
a nearing, a getting closer, an almost there
Until…
‘This counter is now closed, Thankyou’
Once forgotten
Poem twenty http://napowrimo.com
I forgot to write a poem yesterday,
Been reprimanding myself this eve,
I promised not to forget come what may,
To write the words that I really believe,
In order to say what I mean.
Searching for something that can’t be found
Poem nineteen http://napowrimo.com
The weight of words I want to say
is pressing down on me.
A familiar sound, face or voice
and suddenly you’re there.
I feel your presence though it can’t be true.
Every fleeting glance in a crowd
reminds me I should be looking.
Searching for something that can’t be found.
I look at a vast sky that houses us both,
and wonder silently where you are.
I will you to call out to us.
Every month that goes by you recede further,
to unknown corners of my memory.
I fear a day when you are lost completely.
Till then I am just searching for someone who can’t be found.
Dance
Poem eighteen – http://napowrimo.com
Guitar starts strumming,
Drums start crashing
And hips start shaking.
Come on down girl,
The night’s young,
The beats beginning.
Move towards the promise
Of an answer and a smile,
And don’t forget to dance.
Love Bite
Poem seventeen – http://napowrimo.com
On a grey old spring day
a girl plays a song,
playing it her way.
Everyone sings along.
He looks at her face,
thinking she looks lonely,
will she take her place?
He hopes & wishes if only.
A laughing face gleams
at the girl & boy sittin’
to onlookers it seems
she’s well & truly bitten.
Face Recognition
Show Me Courage
Poem fifteen – http://napowrimo.com
A sickness sets in, takes hold,
You stand by and watch it unfold.
I know you’re worried because you care,
But I cannot stand your suffocating stare.
I tell everyone I’m doing fine,
It’s only this heart of mine.
But its pumping strong inside,
Only you and me know I lied.
As I shuffle along in pain,
You wonder aloud whats to gain,
By my going it all alone.
You urge me to give in and moan.
I can’t sit back and let it win,
I insist from here on I will begin,
To fight my way forward once more
So show me who I’m doing it for.
Out of the darkness
Poem fourteen- http://napowrimo.com
A hue of spring flushes the cheeks of the world today,
She breathes warm breezes over our grateful skin
And sings with a voice of insects humming and birdsong.
Even the dirt seems brighter and more welcoming somehow.
A sky of deep blue eyes watches us
as we creep our way outside.
Away from the dark, brooding winter and into the light.
Into the promise of tomorrow, the promise of a future filled with sunlight.
The ground is closer than you think
Poem thirteen – http://napiwrimo.com
The ground is closer than you think,
Coming up quickly to meet me
And introduce my fate.
Wind howling round me,
Telling me its woes.
I don’t pay much attention.
All I heed is the unavoidable ground.
